What happens if the Waimea Community Dam isn’t built?

“Tasman District Council can not drag its feet in exploring possible alternative urban water sources if the proposed Waimea Community Dam does not go ahead because it has to meet Richmond’s growing demand for water.

“The council’s engineering services manager Peter Thomson said the council would be looking at all other water resources outside the Waimea Plains including the Moutere deep bores, the Motueka aquifer, the Wai-Iti catchment and the possibility of small dams in the Eves Valley and Tea Pot Valley areas.”
