Waimea dam plan gets $7m grant as Government splashes $44m on freshwater

“The Government will stump up $7 million for the proposed $82.5m Waimea dam, near Nelson, if the project gets the green light.

“Environment Minister and Nelson MP Nick Smith announced the $7m grant on Tuesday as part of a plan to distribute $44m nationally in the first tranche of funding from the Government’s $100m Freshwater Improvement Fund.”
