Building water security for our region’s future
Effective this evening and in accordance with central Government’s directive to shut down all non-essential business and work, WWL will suspend work on the Waimea Community Dam until we have confirmation from the Ministry of Business Innovation & Employment that we may continue. This decision was made with the Contractor following the Government’s advice yesterday that NZTA and other capital projects of national significance are pausing construction.
WWL has a team of professionally qualified engineers, contract administrators, lawyers, and H&S specialists that are managing this situation, and we look forward to resuming work as soon as the situation allows.
WWL appreciates that the Waimea Community Dam will be a key infrastructure asset for the region that will underpin economic development, and secure the region’s water supply for the next 100+ years. The dam will also support Nelson Tasman’s recovery from the inevitable downturn resulting from this pandemic; the region will need jobs and investment.
WWL is committed to completing the dam as soon as reasonably practical, recognising current constraints on the construction industry.
Please take care of yourselves and your family at this time.
