This year will be significant for the Waimea Community Dam, as we look to close the dam and start filling the reservoir from autumn. Commissioning is planned for spring, so the dam can start providing much-needed water security to the region for the next summer, and beyond. New Zealand will then have its first new publicly-funded large dam since the Clyde Dam was completed in 1992.
