Testing of cone valves commences: 4th-6th April

From the afternoon of Thursday 4 to Saturday 6 April, the Waimea Community Dam will be testing the large valves that release water into the river, meaning the Lee, Wairoa and Waimea rivers will rise during this time.

People are advised to be cautious and to preferably stay away from the rivers between the dam site and the Waimea Estuary over the next three days.

The testing is a key step towards the final commissioning of the dam and its permanent operations.
