Since the beginning of the year, our focus has been on completing the dam so it could provide water for the region during this very dry summer and autumn season. On Saturday 2 March the first water was released from the reservoir Te Kurawai o Pūhanga, curtailing water restrictions from that day on.

This May 2024 newsletter includes a message from the Waimea Water Ltd CEO; highlights from Prime Minister Rt Hon Chris Luxon’s visit to the dam on 9 May; and photo updates of installing the permanent pipework, completing the plunge pool and releasing water into the river.
